National Consumer Helpline

NCH is a project of the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, operating from the University of Delhi.The project recognizes the need of consumers for a Telephone Helpline to deal with a multitude of problems arising in their day-to-day dealings with business and service providers.
NCH provides a National Toll Free No-1800-11-4000 (for BSNL/MTNL Users), Other users can dial- 011-27006500 (normal call charges applicable). SMS to 8800939717 can also be sent mentioning the name and city .
A consumer can call to seek information, advice or guidance for his queries, complaints and guidance.

National Consumer Helpline supports consumers by:

- Guiding consumers in finding solutions to problems related to Products &
Services.
- Providing information related to Companies and Regulatory
Authorities.
- Facilitating consumers in filing complaints against defaulting Service Providers
- Empowering consumers to use available Consumer Grievances Redressal
Mechanisms, Educating Consumers about their Rights and
Responsibilities. |
PERFORMANCE REPORT April 2012
The total no. of dockets made from calls handled during
April 2012, was 10521. In addition to complaints handled
over telephone, 748 complaints have been received
through online complaint handling system on NCH
website. Also, outbound calls were made on the basis of
SMSs received and abandoned calls, at the helpline. 884 dockets were made from outbound
calls made to consumers. These calls are included in the total of 10521 calls handled in April
2012. |
